The specialty of Sindh, Borani, is available in various parts of Sindh and is also known as Bori and Borani. Locals collect the soft, silky, yellowish material that accumulates on the upper stems of the reed ‘Sarkande’ plant growing on the banks of nearby water ponds, fish farms, and canals. The yellow flour extracted from the Borani plant is wrapped in small pieces of cotton cloth, steamed, and cooked. This natural sweet dish and specialty is then served as a ready-to-eat delicacy.
